Lite Import

This article describes the Lite Import features.

341(a) Import and Export

Importing Cases from the Main System
to the Lite System

After you have exported your cases to a CD, floppy disk or local directory, log on to CaseLink Lite on your laptop.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  THE FIRST TIME YOU LOG ON TO CASELINK LITE, YOU MUST USE THE NAME “BMSW” AND THE PASSWORD “TRAINER”.

When you log on to Lite, you may get the message, “This Lite system has already been exported to the Main system on {date, time}. If that export has already (or will be) imported into the Main system, any changes you make will not be able to be uploaded.”

Click on ‘OK’.  It is just letting you know that there are cases in Lite from the last import and that you will be overwriting them with this import.

There are two ways to move cases from the Main system to the Lite system:

1. From the top Main Menu toolbar (File Menu), select ‘File’ > ‘Lite Export’ > ‘Import from Main’.

-OR-

2. From the Form Selection toolbar on the far left side of the page:

•  Click on the ‘341(a) Wkst’ tab.

•  Click on the ‘341(a) Import’ link from the 341(a) Wkst sub-menu beneath the tabs on the far left side of the screen.  You may see an Open window (similar to that shown below) on your computer’s hard drive if this is your first import.

After using either of the above options to initiate the import of cases to Lite, select the Lite file (shown in the message when you exported the file; see the Lite Export page of this Help File).  To make finding the file easier, in the Open window on your computer’s hard drive, click on the  button (in the upper right corner of the screen above) to invoke a menu of options.  Click on ‘Details’ so that you can see the dates.  Select the most recent file.  Click on ‘OK’.  You will then see the Import from the Main window.  The list of cases to be imported will be displayed.  Click on ‘Import’ to begin the import process.  You will receive the message, “The import is complete! Would you like to delete the Lite import file now?”  Click on ‘Yes’.

Note:  After the import to Lite is completed, you must exit CaseLink Lite and sign on again so that the system will recognize security and case listing differences between the old and new data.  You should log on with your regular Main system User Name and Password.

Next, work on your cases as usual, then export them back to the Main computer.

For limitations and troubleshooting issues related to importing cases to Lite, see the Do’s and Don’ts page of this Help File.
