The ‘General’ tab of the Case Filter Builder – All Cases screen is a quick way to select basic case and date fields for your filter. Selecting fields in the general tab will automatically begin to build the filter expression; if you wish to customize the expressions that you have created you can do so in the Advanced Tab.
- To access the ‘General’ tab, from the Trustee Suite Main Menu toolbar, select ‘SnapShots’, which invokes the SnapShots screen as shown below.
- Click on the ‘Filter Maintenance’ button in the upper right corner of the screen, which invokes the Filter Maintenance screen shown below.
- Single click on a Filter Name from the grid and click on the ‘New’ button on the right side of the screen, which generates the New Filter pop-up window shown below.
- Select ‘New Filter – Copy of Selected Filter’ and click on ‘OK’, which invokes the Case Filter Builder screen shown below.
- Filter Description: The ‘General’ tab also offers a place to enter a description (see the ‘Description of what the filter does:’ box on the left side of the screen) of the filter that you are creating. This description will display in the Filter Maintenance screen the next time you select this filter. We suggest that you add a brief description of your filter so that it is easy to identify at a later point in time.
- Filter Name: Type the name of your filter in the ‘Filter Name’ field at the bottom of the screen. If you are editing a pre-existing filter, the name will be displayed in this field and you can make any editing changes needed. If you are creating a new filter, the system will use the name you entered here as the default when the Filter Name prompt window appears.
- Filter Validation: To check whether the filter that you have specified is valid, click on the ‘Check Dialog’ button. In the event that the filter being edited is incorrect, the control will notify you with a balloon message containing detailed information about an error and about the location where it has occurred, placing the caret right to that location. If you ignore the error, the invalid filter path will be marked in red.
