Wage Claim Taxes

Setup Tables

To access the Wage Claim Taxes screen, from the Trustee Suite Main Menu toolbar, select ‘Tables’>’Setup Tables’>’Wage Claim Taxes List’, which invokes the following. The Wage Claim Taxes screen is composed of four tabs as described below.

‘Federal’ Tab

Employee Taxes table columns (see instructions for populating these fields under the green information icon (which includes a tool tip on hover over) just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above):

  • Prep-populated Name text field:  Income Tax, FICA, Medicare, FUTA, etc.
  • Flat Rate text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Pre-populated Percentage text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Wages Subject to Tax (Wage Cap):  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Claimant (drop-down menu):  Select the Claimant, as applicable, from the provided list.
  • Add to New Claims (checkbox option):  Details explaining this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • ‘Copy Row to Employer Taxes’ button:  Click on this button to copy a row from the Employee Taxes table to the Employer Taxes table.
  • ‘New’, ‘Delete’ and ‘Claimants…’ hyperlinks:  Use the ‘New’ link to add a new row in the Employee Tax grid, the ‘Delete’ link to delete the highlighted row in the Employee Tax grid, and the ‘Claimants…’ link to add, edit and select the claimant to whom taxes are paid using the Repetitive Payee List screen.

Employer Taxes table columns:

  • Prep-populated Name text field:  Income Tax, FICA, Medicare, FUTA, etc.
  • Flat Rate text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Pre-populated Percentage text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Wages Subject to Tax (Wage Cap):  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Claimant (drop-down menu):  Select the Claimant, as applicable, from the provided list.
  • Add to New Claims (checkbox option):  Details explaining this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘Federal’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • ‘Copy Row to Employee Taxes’ button: Click on this button to copy a row from the Employer Taxes table to the Employee Taxes table.
  • ‘New’, ‘Delete’ and ‘Claimants…’ hyperlinks:  Use the ‘New’ link to add a new row in the Employer Tax grid, the ‘Delete’ link to delete the highlighted row in the Employer Tax grid, and the ‘Claimants…’ link to add, edit and select the claimant to whom taxes are paid using the Repetitive Payee List screen.

‘State’ Tab

Employee Taxes table columns (see instructions for populating these fields under the green information icon (which includes a tool tip on hover over) just below the ‘State’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above):

  • State Selection Drop-down Menu: Choose the applicable option.
  • Prep-populated Name text field:  State Income Tax, State SUTA, etc.
  • Flat Rate text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘State’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Pre-populated Percentage text field:  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘State’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Wages Subject to Tax (Wage Cap):  Instructions for populating this field are under the green information icon just below the ‘State’ tab in the far left upper corner of the screen above.
  • Claimant (drop-down menu):  Select the Claimant, as applicable, from the provided list.

  • ‘Copy Row to Employer Taxes’ button:  Click on this button to copy a row from the Employee Taxes table to the Employer Taxes table.

‘Local’ Tab

  • ‘New’, ‘Delete’ and ‘Claimants…’ hyperlinks:  Use the ‘New’ link to add a new row in the Employer Tax grid, the ‘Delete’ link to delete the highlighted row in the Employer Tax grid, and the ‘Claimants…’ link to add, edit and select the claimant to whom taxes are paid using the Repetitive Payee List screen.

‘Threshold’ Tab

Clicking on this tab invokes the screen shown below.

‘OK’ Button: Click on the ‘OK’ button to submit your entries.

‘Wage Claim Thresholds’ drop-down menu:

  • The user cannot modify the threshold limits. The tab is simply to expose the existing limits and to allow Stretto to update the threshold limit.

The threshold limit is displayed in a modal pop-up when the user enters a wage claim and sets the amount allowed over the threshold cap. The following modal displays the message to the user and the threshold value:

‘OK’ Button:  Click on the ‘OK’ button to submit your entries.
