The Case Filter (shown below) defines the data that you will query on from Trustee Suite. Page 2 of the SnapShot Wizard (shown below) gives you options for selecting the Case Filter, either by choosing from a pre-existing filter or from a new filter expression that you build.
1. Selecting a Pre-Existing Filter:
- If the selection of filters in the ‘Filter Name’ drop-down list (shown in the fourth screenshot below) is not exactly what you need and you do not want to create a new filter from scratch, you can edit a pre-existing filter and assign it to your SnapShot. From the Trustee Suite Main Menu toolbar, select the ‘SnapShots’ tab, which invokes the screen shown below, then select the ‘Filter Maintenance’ link in the top right corner of the screen, which generates the Filter Maintenance screen (the second screenshot shown below).
- Click on the filter that you would like to edit from the ‘Filter Name:’ drop-down list (shown above).
- Select the ‘Edit’ button, which invokes the Case Filter Builder screen (shown in the second screenshot below).
- Enter your changes to the filter in the Case Filter Builder screen’s ‘General’ tab and ‘Advanced’ tab. See the General Tab and Advanced Tab pages of this Help File for detailed information on how to use these features.
- Select the ‘OK’ button at the bottom of the screen above.
- The Filter Type window will appear (the second screenshot shown below); select the option, ‘Replace currently selected filter’. Note that this is the defaulted selection. Select the ‘OK’ button.
- The filter you selected for editing will be overwritten and is highlighted gray in the filter list in the Filter Maintenance screen as shown in the screenshot below.
- To run your filter, click on the ‘Select’ button (far right upper corner of the screen).
- The application will return to the main SnapShots screen (shown in the first screenshot above) and your new filter will be applied to the selected SnapShot.
2. Creating a New Filter Expression:
- To create a new filter for your SnapShot, from the Trustee Suite Main Menu toolbar, select the ‘SnapShots’ tab, which invokes the SnapShots screen shown at the top of the page. Select the ‘SnapShot Maintenance’ link in the top right corner of the SnapShots screen to invoke the SnapShot Maintenance window shown below. Select any existing SnapShot (except those in green text, which are System SnapShots and cannot be edited or deleted) and then the ‘Edit’ button, which generates the first page of the SnapShot Wizard (shown in the second screenshot below).
- Click on the ‘Continue’ button to invoke the second page of the SnapShot Wizard (the second screenshot shown below).
- Click on the ‘New Filter Expression’ link (shown above) and you will automatically go to the Case Filter Builder screen (the second screenshot shown below).
- Begin building your new filter; note that the new filter you are creating automatically inherits the name of your SnapShot. If you wish to re-name your filter, ensure to do so in the ‘Filter Name:’ field at the bottom of the Case Filter Builder screen (shown below). Once your filter is built, clicking on ‘Continue” in the screen above takes you to page three of the SnapShot Wizard, which is covered in the Select the Fields to Include page of this Help File.
