Void a Check

This procedure explains how to void an individual check, as well as why it is necessary.

Reasons to Void a Check

There are two reasons to Void a Check:

  1. A check has not been mailed.
  2. A check has been presented to the Payee and will not be used.

If you are in a UST Region that requires the use of wildcards, selecting ‘Void’ will automatically enable the wildcard.

To Void a Check

1. Open the Check Detail screen, accessed via the Form Selection toolbar on the far left side of the page, clicking on the ‘Banking’ tab, which reveals the Banking screen, selecting an account from the Accounts grid at the top of the screen and clicking on the ‘Write Checks’ button at the bottom of the screen, which invokes the Check Information screen shown below.

2. Select ‘Voided’ from the ‘Paid Status’ drop-down list shown below.

3. The ‘Date’ field will be automatically filled with the current date.

4. Click on ‘Save’.

Remember:  You must have possession of the check in order to place a void.
