The Receipts Log is used to log items received for deposit in bankruptcy estate bank accounts, and is distinct from the posting of receipts into Trustee Suite. This log is used as a control log so that the items received can be verified against the items posted in the banking section, and against the deposit slips and bank account statements.
The Receipts Log offers you a number of benefits that meet the receipt log and verification duties outlined in the UST Handbook. These benefits include the ease of verifying that receipt log entries have a corresponding banking entry in Trustee Suite, a way to show when a deposit has been received by the bank, easier tracking of non-deposited items and the ability to generate various reports.
Entering an Item for Deposit into the Receipts Log
1. Click on ‘Case Administration’ on the top Main Menu toolbar (File Menu) and select ‘Receipts Log’. The Receipts Log window (shown below) will display all entries to date.
2. Click on the ‘New Item’ button.
3. Enter the necessary information. Keep in mind that Received, Case Name, Payor and Amount are required fields.
4. Click on ‘Save’.
5. When you return to the Receipts log, Trustee Suite will highlight the last entry made in the Receipts Log.
Note: You can add new entries and edit the Purpose field of previously added entries in the Receipts Log. You cannot delete entries once they have been saved in this table.
Voiding an Entry in the Receipts Log
Select the record that you wish to void.
Click on ‘Options…’ and select ‘Void the Current Receipt’. The record will remain in the grid but will be marked as voided, as shown in the second screenshot below.
Printing the Receipts Log
To print a copy of the Receipts Log, you can click on the printer icon at the bottom right corner of the screen above; this will open the parameter screen for the Receipts Log. An alternative option is to go to ‘Reports’ > ‘Other’ (from the Trustee Suite Main Menu toolbar) and select ‘Receipts Log’ from the list of reports displayed as shown below.
